On showing up for camp for another year:
“It’s always different, every year is always different. You always have excitement about a new year, you have everything to look forward to and nothing to feel bad about. So I’m excited and we’re going to get going here before you know it and we’ll see where it goes.”

On if there’s a different feel because of the new coaching staff:
“It’s a little different feel but I won’t know exactly what that feel is until we get going and see what the different schedule is going to be and the different practices. Camp is camp and it’s something that you come into and you have to work at and get your team going and start to grow and learn each other a little bit better than we did at OTAs and stuff like that. So it’s a good part of what we do.”

On if he thinks the workload will be heavier
“I don’t know. I know we have more two-a-days, which is part of camp and you have to do it. He [Coach Gailey] stressed toughness and the team being smart so I know we’re going to work on those things. I don’t know how long practice is going to be but I would anticipate us getting after it pretty good.”

On what he thinks about people picking them to finish last in the division:
“I don’t know if they’ve ever picked us to win the division, this will be my fifth year and I’m pretty sure they haven’t. You know, it’s all about, it’s the old cliché, we’re here, we have to work one day at a time. Because That’s the only way we’re going to change anybody’s opinion, is winning football games on Sunday, and we start by doing that here. Like I said, the only way that you can change it is to win some football games and change the attitude around here amongst the players and fans.”

On if he thinks Aaron Schobel will retire:
“I’ve talked to Schobel quite a bit. I talked to him on the way up here. We hope he comes back, I think he wants to, I think he’ll miss parts of it. As everybody here knows, he’s quite an individual. We hope he comes back because he can help us out a lot. Being able to play in this defense could help him, not just our team. We hope he comes back. I know that he said he’s leaning toward it, but I’m sure he’ll take his time. He’ll send me texts all the time and I’ll talk to him a good bit. He’s going to make up his own mind. I’d like to have him back because as miserable as he is, it makes me feel so much better about where I am. (Laughs) No, he’s a good teammate, a good guy to be around.

On what he thinks about Schobel being compared to Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre:
“No, I’m not calling him Brett Favre, but he’s going to take his time making a decision. As if seven months isn’t enough. (laughs)”

On if he thinks people will underestimate their veteran defense:
“I think we have a lot of guys that have played a lot of football. We also have a good defense. We’ve got new responsibilities up front, in the back row, different coverages, different terminology and we have to hit the ground running and build on what we did in OTAs. So I think we can do some good things, I really do. I think we’ll be able to disguise some things, we’ll be able to make some plays because of the schemes we’re running. It’s just a matter of getting comfortable and knowing what you’re going to see and making it happen.”
