Bills November 7 Interviews: Chan Gailey, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Fred Jackson

Head Coach Chan Gailey – Monday, November 7, 2011

On NT Kyle Williams injury update:

It looks like Kyle will be headed down to see the doctor one more time in North Carolina, Dr. Anderson. He’ll be going down there tomorrow or the next day and I think something definitive will happen then one way or the other.

On if that news is encouraging or not:

I don’t know either.

On K Rian Lindell’s shoulder injury:

It had a little, I don’t know if they said break or it tried to come out or what it was but it’s not good. So we’re going to bring some guys in and have them kick this week just in case we have to find another kicker.

On if he anticipates having to find another kicker for this week’s game:

That’s why we’re doing it is in case he can’t kick this week. We’ll make that...

BUFFALO BILLS Head Coach Chan Gailey

They played well. We played poorly. It’s my responsibility to get our team ready to play each week and I didn’t get these guys ready to play well enough to play this ball game. It’s a big ball game. I hadn’t had this happen at home this year and we’ve got to get better. That’s the bottom line. We weren’t physical enough in the ball game. We’ve got to be more physical. If I had to say there was one thing, that’s what I would say.

On the low offensive production:

Again I go back to myself on that. I needed to be cleaner on the things that I had designed for the offense, needed to run the ball better early. I probably didn’t stick with that enough. And we just sometimes in third down we couldn’t make third downs and that’s where we’ve got to get better if we expect to be a consistent football team. We’ve done that...

Bills November 2 Interviews: Chan Gailey, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Fred Jackson, Stevie Johnson, Donald Jones, Eric Wood, Dwan Edwards, Spencer Johnson, Marcell Dareus

Head Coach Chan Gailey – Wednesday, November 2, 2011

On the Jets not getting a lot of live exposure to QB Ryan Fitzpatrick:

No, but they’ve got the film. When you’ve got the film, and they’ve got every game this season, they had an off week to study every bit of it. That will not be and I don’t think that’s an issue for teams anymore.

On what stands out from the Jets’ defense:

They can generate a lot of pass rush with their different looks. They can create problems for you in protection if you’re not careful. Their corners obviously are very good. They’re a good all-around defense. They have been for years and they are this year.

On the Jets playing more man coverage defense:

They play a lot more man than some teams.

On where this game ranks in importance:

This is the...

Bills October 31 Interviews: Chan Gailey, Ryan Fitzpatrick

Head Coach Chan Gailey – Monday, October 31, 2011

On what RB Fred Jackson has done for this team:

I think it’s all been said before. He catches, he runs, he protects. He’s doing an amazing job for our football team right now. We wouldn’t be where we are without him, I know that.

On if he’s had a player play this well for an extended period of time like Jackson:

Not doing everything that he is doing, no. I’ve never had one.

On what LB Nick Barnett has brought to the team:

Besides the physical qualities of speed, instincts and things like that he brings an energy to our defense and to our team. Every time he walks on the field he’s got energy whether it’s practice or a game. He’s brought a great little edge to us as well.

On the defense getting 9.0 sacks while missing key players:

I think guys got a taste of playing well and...

Rogers Centre’s tailgate cranked it to 11

Fans, food and Finger Eleven – the stage was set for excitement on Sunday, October 30, 2011 and Rogers Centre delivered a tailgate party that overtook the streets of Toronto.

The outside of the stadium was crowded with excited fans, interactive games, prizing, live music and an atmosphere not to be beat.  Jerseys were in abundance and spirits were high as fans had the chance to mingle with the Bud Girls, the Buffalo Jills and Bills alumni.

The tailgate grabbed the bull by the horns, literally, with a mechanical buffalo challenge that tested the stamina of everyone who tried to stay on the buffalo the longest.

But it was Finger Eleven who brought the house down with a concert that resounded through the streets and warmed fans up for a game that was as thrilling as the tailgate.

Fans were in great spirits and took in everything the tailgate had to offer with energy and enthusiasm.  What capped off this highly successful party was an...

Bills bring a phenomenal win to Rogers Centre

It was a day, and a game, to remember.  The Buffalo Bills annihilated the Washington Redskins with a 23-0 win that brought the crowd to their feet.  Not only did that place Buffalo 5-2 in the season and is again tied atop the AFC East with New England but made for a history day for the Bills Toronto Series and Rogers Centre.

Current players and alumni were keenly aware of the support Toronto had for the team and the game:

Spencer Jackson:

“I know I was very critical of the environment. But from the very beginning, they were making noise, then they started doing the wave in the fourth quarter (I know, I’m as embarrassed about it as you are). Any noise is good noise. I think we gave them something to cheer about and that’s also something we haven’t done in the past.

Jim Kelly:

“The fans this year were great,” said Bills quarterbac king legend, adding that extra push from the home side is...

Bills defence dominates

Bills defence dominates

Mike Rutsey – The Toronto Sun, Monday, October 31, 2011

TORONTO - Drawing up a game plan is the easy part.

Executing it come game day, well that’s something different altogether.

Defensively the Bills game plan against Washington was simple — stop the run and get pressure on quarterback John Beck.

For the Bills that was a whole lot easier said than done as coming into Sunday’s game the Bills were a powder puff team defensively. They ranked 30th in rush defence while their sack total was an embarrassing low of four. So the goal against the Redskins was a double-dipped chore.

But that all changed inside what for the Rogers Centre was a boisterous crowd of 51,579.

This day the defence was stellar.

Part of it may have been the fact that the Bills were well rested, coming off a bye week. Part of it may have been how poorly the Redskins played.

But the biggest part was a fired up defence...

BUFFALO BILLS HEAD COACH CHAN GAILEY

On working on the pass rush during the bye week and wanting to get to the quarter back:

That would be the biggest understatement of the year. That was amazing to go get nine sacks against that team. They really worked hard at it during the bye week. I don’t think anybody expected that. I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t expect that. They gave such a great effort, did a good job working technique and getting back to fundamentals. In the bye week you get out of the routine. You get out of everything and you’ve got to depend on the fundamentals when you come back off a bye week. They did a great job of that.

On the back end guys getting sacks as well:

That was a big part of it. He didn’t have anywhere to throw the football. He had to hold it an extra second. And when you hold it an extra second...
