On what he likes about the selection of South Carolina DB Stephon Gilmore:
Buddy Nix: We talk about needing corners with some size and adding speed to our team. I think we did both with (Gilmore). (Gilmore) has been a 40 game starter in a pretty good league. He has good ball skills, he has great speed, and he is a good tackler. He was high on our draft board from the start. I thought when corners started going that there might be a good chance he would not be there. But we were fortunate, I think, to get him. He will help our football team.
On what Gilmore’s forty speed was:
BN: He was high 4.3’s.
On how Gilmore was used in college and how physical of a corner he is:
BN: That is a big thing now. The way they spread you out, the offenses do. First of all, you have to be big enough to match up against the (Patriot’s) tight ends—especially in our division. What they will do, and the same thing we do, is spread you out with five receivers and...

QB RYAN FITZPATRICK
On what he wants to accomplish on the first day back:
Just getting everybody back in and seeing what kind of shape everybody’s in. Really catching up with guys, seeing how their offseason was. A lot of the guys had different surgeries and injuries that they had to heal up from. Some of it is just seeing how they’re doing. We’ll get in, we’ll have a team meeting and get to talk to the guys some more, interact with the coaches. It’s really one of those deals where we’ve got the new guys so getting a chance to speak with Mario (Williams) and some of the other guys and everybody just getting acquainted with each other.
On what his reaction was to the team signing DE Mario Williams:
I was in Costa Rica for a wedding and there was only internet access in the lobby, so with the three day ordeal that it was every 20 minutes I was walking down to the lobby looking at my phone. Finally when it happened obviously I was...

Head Coach Chan Gailey – Wednesday, November 23, 2011
On any injury updates with RB Fred Jackson.
Fred’s not good. I know he’ll miss this one, and then we’ll have to decide what happens from there.
On RB CJ Spiller stepping in:
It’ll be his opportunity. We’ve had a lot of guys that have taken opportunities and done well with them and I fully expect that from him.
On Jackson’s injury:
He got kicked or kneed or something (in the calf).
On if Jackson will be back before the end of the season:
I don’t know about that. We’ll have to wait and see.
On how much the game plan changes with Spiller starting now:
It changes a little bit. You’ve got 10 other guys that have been doing things. You can’t change everything they’re doing and you don’t...

HEAD COACH CHAN GAILEY – Monday, November 21, 2011
On RB Fred Jackson:
He’s banged up, but we’ll have to wait and see. I don’t know if I can give you a good answer right now. He’s hurting and I doubt he would practice early in the week. We hope to have him late in the week.
On if SS George Wilson’s injury will keep him out awhile:
I don’t know. It’s starting to heal, but it’s not there yet. I think if he can make some progress it’ll be a slow progress. Maybe we’ll get him back this week, maybe we won’t.
On WR Donald Jones and if there’s a chance he’ll play the rest of the season:
It looks like it’s more long-term than short term for him. (There’s an) Outside chance.
On if CB Terrence McGee had surgery:
Yea, he had surgery today.
On if Injured...
