On how he feels about this opportunity:
It’s just being around a great team. I had a chance to watch the guys play a lot last year on film because pretty much the guys who they were playing we were right behind when I was in Philly (Philadelphia). As well as with Coach Gailey and Coach D. Lee, I call him, Coach (David) Lee. I know he’s been trying to recruit me for a long time since I was coming out of high school to come to Arkansas. To get a chance to come here to study, work hard and listen to the knowledge that they have to bring to the game, my game, make my game even better I thought that was a great opportunity for myself.
On what he took from last season in Philadelphia to make this season better:
One thing I learned a lot of was a lot of film work. Last year and all my previous years I’ve been taught how to be a pocket passer. A lot of guys asked, “Why aren’t you going to run the ball anymore?” My biggest thing was I was trying to learn how to...

On the three day Rookie Mini-Camp:
We had great effort. We got to see some guys run around and try to retain what we had taught them for three days. It was very good work in my opinion. We were able to get outside all three days and we were able to get a lot accomplished.
On if he was impressed with the information retained by the players:
Yea, impressed with some and not impressed with others. But that’s the way it is. You’re trying to find that out. You can watch them run, jump and change direction but you don’t know their mental capacity. That’s the one thing you don’t know off film, so you’re trying to get a good gauge of that going into this weekend.
On what grade he would give to the nine draft picks for retaining information:
They did a good job. I don’t give grades. Grades show up on Sunday afternoons.
On if CB Stephon Gilmore had the look of a first-round pick:
He did a great job during the weekend. He is a big,...

General Manager Buddy Nix:
Another good day for us. It’s a big day for the Bills. It’s a big day for Fred Jackson and his family. We always said we want to try to keep our good players and we’ve done it again today with what we think is one of the best backs in the league. I’m going to turn this over to Fred. It’s his day, Fred Jackson.
Running Back Fred Jackson:
Big day. First and foremost I want to thank Buddy (Nix) and the whole Bills organization: Mr. Wilson and Jim Overdorf for all the work they did and they put in with my agent Ron Raccuia. They got it done. I always said that I wanted to be here and now I have that opportunity to be here. I thank my wife for putting up with me. With football I know it’s not always easy, the kids love it, Grandma for watching them. It’s just a happy day. I’m happy to be here. I’m glad that this is over with and now I can focus on playing football.
On the length of the contract extension:
Two...

General Manager Buddy Nix:
It is my pleasure to introduce to you our first selection with the number 10 pick from South Carolina Stephon Gilmore. You hear me enough so I am going to turn it over to him.
Stephon Gilmore:
On his impression of Buffalo and the Bills franchise:
It has been a great experience meeting a lot of great people around the organization. I met a couple of players. My Mom and Dad are here with me, and my girlfriend. I am just enjoying my time here.
On if he was surprised when the Bills selected him:
I was not surprised. I knew they were in the hunt of picking me and I am happy they chose me. I am happy to be a part of this organization. I am just ready to play some football now.
On if he had gotten a good vibe from the Bills before the draft:
They did not really give me a hint of what they were going to do. But I enjoyed myself down here and did not expect to come back down here. But I did and I am happy with...

On being drafted by the Buffalo Bills:
Stephon Gilmore: It is a great feeling to be a Buffalo Bill. They have great fans and they picked me at the 10 spot so I am happy to play for them.
On if he had any idea the Bills intended to take him:
SG: Kind of. I went on a visit to the Bills and got to visit the city a little bit. It is a great feeling. They believe in my talent. I am looking forward to playing for them. Like I said they have great fans and I am looking forward to helping that defense out.
On if he feels prepared to play in the NFL after playing in the SEC:
SG: I think I am going to be ready. Just keep working hard and doing everything that got me to this point right now. I’m just going in to compete and to compete like I have always been doing.
On what he feels comfortable doing in terms of football skills:
SG: I think I can play press man and off man pretty well. I can do whatever the coaches want me to do. Whatever they...

On what he likes about the selection of South Carolina DB Stephon Gilmore:
Buddy Nix: We talk about needing corners with some size and adding speed to our team. I think we did both with (Gilmore). (Gilmore) has been a 40 game starter in a pretty good league. He has good ball skills, he has great speed, and he is a good tackler. He was high on our draft board from the start. I thought when corners started going that there might be a good chance he would not be there. But we were fortunate, I think, to get him. He will help our football team.
On what Gilmore’s forty speed was:
BN: He was high 4.3’s.
On how Gilmore was used in college and how physical of a corner he is:
BN: That is a big thing now. The way they spread you out, the offenses do. First of all, you have to be big enough to match up against the (Patriot’s) tight ends—especially in our division. What they will do, and the same thing we do, is spread you out with five receivers and...
